Trade rumours between the New York Rangers and Vancouver Canucks continue to intensify involving forward J.T. Miller.

According to Sportsnet's Elliotte Friedman, the New York Rangers and the Vancouver Canucks were extremely close on finalizing a deal for Miller.

«J.T. Miller I expect is going to play tonight, unless something changes at the last minute,» Friedman reported. «But there was a time in the last 24 hours where J.T. Miller was not going to play. He was going to be held out of the lineup because talks were progressing on a trade, I believe that team to be the New York Rangers.»

Unfortunately, due to unknown reasons the deal never materialized between the two teams and now trade talks have slowed down a ton.

«Now I don't know exactly what happened but that trade is off right now. ... Things had progressed to a certain point where he was definitely not going to play,» Friedman said.

The Rangers have been linked to Miller for several weeks now, and this is the first time that serious talks took place and a trade was close to being completed, so it's safe to assume the Rangers will try to acquire Miller again soon.

But at the moment It's unclear if the Rangers and Canucks have resumed conversations and if a possible trade is still on the table.

However, it has been revealed by Rangers insider Larry Brooks that the two possible players that the New York Rangers had up for the trade was Alexis Lafreniere and Braden Schneider.

@NYP_Brooksie: «The noise about Miller and #NYR, with whom the 15th overall selection of the 2011 draft spent the first five-plus seasons of his career, will spike. Candidates to go the other way will be named. Alexis Lafreniere would be one, Braden Schneider would be another.»

Definitely a few unexpected names, but only time will tell if either one of these players will be on the move or not.
