The Nashville Predators have been on the struggle bus recently, and thanks to their play their former 1st round defenseman, Dante Fabbro was placed on waivers.

This is surprising news, given that Fabbro was the only NHL player placed on waivers. The team is currently 4-9-1 and last season it took being denied a U2 concert for the team to shape up.

Is this how GM Barry Trotz is trying to inspire his players? Seems inadvisable.

But their loss is the Ranger's potential gain, as they could gain Dante Fabbro to consolidate the defense.

Fabbro was a 1st round pick in the 2016 NHL Draft(17th Overall) and has played his entire career in Nashville.

Fabbro has appeared in 315 regular season games for the Predators, recording 16 goals and 56 assists for a total of 72 points, and an additional 17 playoff games in which he has recorded a single assist.

In total irony, Fabbro has only played 6 games this season, with a -3 rating which could explain how he landed on waivers today.

He only carries a 1-year, $2.5 Million deal and as a right-shot defenseman could be an interesting add for the Rangers.

With news of Jacob Trouba being traded in the eventual future, he could find himself in the bottom four of the lineup.

Fabbro has been on the sidelines for quite some time now with the veteran defenseman not appearing in an NHL game since October 28th when the Predators faced off against the Tampa Bay Lightning.

The former Nashville defenseman sounds like he could turn into a good reclamation project for whoever decides to take the risk of claiming him.

Either way, the situation in Nashville is dire this season, and given the amount of spending they did, no one is safe.

He could be easily scooped up by GM Chris Drury now and would be a great add based on his player profile alone. Give him a fresh start!

Stepped from Boston University's blueline into the NHL without missing a beat, and continues to develop into a solid defender. His skating has improved, so he has excellent mobility and also owns a big shot from the point. He is getting better at knowing when to jump into the rush but has to get stronger to keep up with opposing forwards.
