Painful Loss, But We Still Extend Point Streak To Maintain First Place
The undermanned New York Ranger six game win streak comes to an end, as they have lost to the Minnesota Wild last night, 5-4 in their first shootout of the year.
The Rangers got off to an incredible hot start, scoring three goals in the first frame to take a 3-0 lead.
Minnesota managed to climb back, and even took the lead, 4-3 in the third.
The Rangers managed to tie it with 4-4 with a little over 13 minutes left in the game from Chris Kreider.
With this goal, Kreider has surpassed Andy Bathgate for the fourth most goals in franchise history.
Also, Artemi Panarin has extended his point streak to 11 games now with this beauty of a goal early in the first:
Unfortunately it wasn't enough, as the Rangers couldn't hang on for the the win. The loss of defenseman Adam Fox is felt with this game.
The Rangers after the first were crumbling defensively and Jonathan Quick was overloaded.
The Rangers still walk away with a point and maintain first place in the Metropolitan Division. Let's hope adjustments are made in the next game as we continue short handed.
Note: The last time the Rangers lost a game when scoring 4+ goals, was March 22nd, against the New Jersey Devils, where they lost 4-7.
