There is always one player in the NHL trade deadline that catches most general managers attention.

These guys are difference makers who will carry a team or put them over the top as they're looking for a specific need.
The Rangers need offensive players especially on its third line or even in its top 6.
One player's name who continues to surface with the Rangers is Pittsburgh Penguins forward Jake Guentzel.
As the deadline approaches, 32 Thoughts podcaster Elliotte Friedman revealed the cost to acquire Guentzel.
Landing a player of his caliber will certainly require the Rangers depart with a player like Othmann.
The team has made it abundantly clear that they have no desire to move away from Gabe Perreault which is the right call.
Othmann, who was drafted in the 2021 Entry Draft, first round 16th overall has been playing with the Hartford Wolf Pack and through 48 games, he has scored fourteen goals with 22 assists for 36 points with 46 penalty minutes.
As mentioned in the tweet, the Rangers would need to find a way to sign Guentzel to a long term deal.
According to capfriendly.com, the Rangers have a deadline cap space of $4.83 million.
It would be expected a roster player would have to go back to the Penguins to make the room for Guentzel and have his new contract locked up.
Of course, this would be difficult to conceive as the Rangers are in the same division as the Penguins.
But it's safe to say he would look great in a Rangers uniform and be the answer they need to help with the team over the top.
