Peter Laviolette brutally calls out the New York Rangers following embarrassing 7-5 loss
The New York Rangers lost to the Seattle Kraken 7-5 at Madison Square Garden today. Peter Laviolette would address the media postgame, and wouldn't mince his words.
The New York Rangers lost to the Kraken in a three-game home stretch which the team could've used to improve their standings. Yet they'd only come out of the three-game series, with a win against the Penguins on Friday, while the Blackhawks wait in the wings.
The Kraken put six goals past goalie
Jonathan Quick with 13 players accumulating a point or more during the match.
The Rangers fell to 7-6-1 at home with a third loss in their last five games at Madison Square Garden.
Quick would end the day with 15 saves on 21 shots, and a dismal .714 save percentage.
Not quite the effort you want to see from a former Presidents Trophy-winning club in the NHL.
Laviolette wouldn't spare the team any criticism, as he felt the Rangers were weak defensively. Giving up six goals to an expansion team you've consistently beat, should be cause for concern.
Despite the team scoring by committee and putting up 5 goals, they weren't able to limit the Kraken's chances which is key to staying in tight games like today.
The defensive lapses gave the Kraken their first-ever win in Madison Square Garden, as the expansion team continues to thrive under Head Coach Dan Bylsma, and Assistant Coach Jessica Campbell.
A scary takeaway from this game:
Rangers: Allowed six or more goals for the third time in their last eight home games.
Whatever it is the Rangers need to do now that
Jacob Trouba is gone, it needs to happen quickly.
Is Laviolette seriously losing the room?
