The New York Rangers suffered a terrible defeat from the Buffalo Sabres, who punched above their weight last night.

The score was 6-1, which resulted in Igor Shesterkin being pulled from the game and Jonathan Quick giving up the last goal of the evening.

The Rangers felt that they were under siege for far too long during that game according to Peter Laviolette.

«We've been under siege a little bit too much and relying on our goaltenders too much,» coach Peter Laviolette said postgame.

The goaltending was just abysmal, and the offense was non-existent than Will Cuylle who hung a goal on UPL.

So it's caused Laviolette to tweak the lines for the Rangers and he has moved Cuylle down in the lineup, despite his recent successes.

While promoting Chris Kreider to the second line with Reilly Smith, and Vinnie Vinnie Troecheck.

«I don't like the fact that we weren't on the attack more,» Laviolette explained. «I don't think that we were on an onslaught, and that's why it was 3-0, I'm going to be disappointed that we didn't generate more, that we didn't go after them, that we didn't attack them more.»

While the Rangers were able to outshoot the Sabres, they were outworked, and outplayed by the Sabres.

Shades of what we've seen in the past and what Laviolette needs to fix if they desire a deep run in the postseason.

The defensive pairs look the same, as they have gone unscathed, other than the rotating position that Zac Jones and Victor Mancini shared in the 6th defenseman position.

Ultimately, we will see a different forward group tomorrow against the Red Wings, but should he have switched around the defensive pairs?

We'll see.
