The 38-year-old goaltender had abysmal numbers at the end of his tenure with the Los Angeles Kings when he had a record of 11-13- 4 with a goals against of 3.50 and a save percentage of .876.
Since his inception with the Rangers, Jonathan Quick has looked more like the goaltender of old having posted a record of 17-5-2 and goes against of 2.54 and a save percentage of .913.
This has given Rangers fans a sense of calm as Rangers starter Igor Shesterkin had a period during the season that he struggled mightily and could not stop the puck.
General manager Chris Drury should be applauded for bringing in Jonathan Quick and giving his net an insurance policy which has helped protect their lead in the Metro Division.
Aside being the Bill Masterson award nominee, quick also passed a major milestone as the most winning NHL goaltender that was born in the United States.
Some are wondering if Quick was planning to hang up his skates after the end of this season, but it appears that he feels confident that he can have more success with the Rangers has he agreed to a one-year contract extension on March 3rd.
They awarded him a $1.275 million deal.
With the playoffs looming, the Rangers and the fanbase can rest assure that they have two bonafide starting goalies that can help them with a long playoff run let alone a three Stanley Cup winning goalie.
