Rangers' Matt Rempe begins trending for the wrong reason

The New York Rangers season ended sadly, but Matt Rempe was a bright spot in dark times for the team. He became beloved by fans as well.

After the elimination from the Stanley Cup Playoffs by the Florida Panthers, players would clean out their lockers and return home. Return to train, and enjoy the off-season.

For Matt Rempe, he went viral for all the wrong reasons as he was asked by a Rangers fan to go on a date with her in California. The initiation was made through Instagram and Rempe would post a poll, including the story with two options:

Come to find out, the Poll was posted on Matt Rempe's friend's Instagram page and the only vote cast: WAS BY REMPE HIMSELF!!

The fan would follow suit and make her own poll, in an attempt to convince Rempe to make the date happen. According to her, her mom is the one who discovered Matt Rempe and the poll options for her poll:

Rempe has been a loveable figure in the Rangers system, as a bruiser who takes no bull, and calls people out, much like he did with this fan.

This fan, regrettably will have to find another crush in the meantime, while Rempe trains for the next NHL season.
