New York Rangers Metropolitan Division rivals are set to make major moves this offseason.

The Philadelphia Flyers general manager Danny Briere had started his offseason work, and according to a Former Flyers, a pair of veteran players are unlikely to return with the franchise next season.

Veteran forward Cam Atkinson, struggled this year with only managing 28 points in 70 games and was designated a healthy scratch in 11 of the final 17 games.

Along with that goaltender Cal Petersen, has played 5 games this season, with 2 only wins, leaving him with a 3.90 GAA, and .864 save percentage.

Both candidates are set to have their respective contracts bought out.

Flyers GM Danny Briere issued the following:

"We're looking at every option," Briere said. "Because we're tight on [NHL salary] cap space, we're still looking at every possible option in that direction. Both Cam Atkinson and Cal Petersen want to prove that they can still play in the NHL. So we're evaluating all of that, but we haven't made a final decision yet."

"We're looking at every option," he continued. "It gives us the chance to maybe be open-minded to being creative with something different."

Both players have one year left on their respective contracts. Atkinson's AAV is $5,875,000, whilePetersen's cap hit is $5 million.
