It was a fantastic game for both sides as it was exciting and intense as Teddy Stiga scored his first of the tournament on a breakaway at 8:04 of three-on-three overtime which caused the USA bench to erupt in joy.
Rangers top prospects Gabriel Perreault and Drew Fortescue were integral in this tournament to help secure the victory.
In the tournament, Perreault was third overall in points as he played seven games, scoring three goals with seven assists for 10 points and was a + 8.
During each game he was one of the most dangerous players on the ice and was always in prime scoring positions to either assist or get the goal himself.
Fortescue did not have any points in this tournament, but he helped defend The United States net well.
This victory has been a rare occurrence for members of the Rangers organization as the team has been mired in one of the worst periods of Rangers history.
With Perreault's production and overall great play, this will bode well for his chances to potentially making the Rangers lineup within the next year or so.
The organization is taking the approach of allowing him to develop as much as possible as the team had a good standing in the NHL and was poised to have another good season.
Since their collapse, there's a possibility that the Rangers may look at Perreault sooner rather than later and may potentially beyond their lineup.
There are many questions surrounding the Rangers lineup and with 2025 beginning and the second half of the season as well, it's likely the Rangers will try to turn the tide and get back into the win column as they dig deep to try to find what went wrong and how to fix it.
The Rangers themselves also had good news last night as they defeated the lowly Chicago Blackhawks 6-2 as they even the series for this season at one apiece.
The Rangers will be back at home on Tuesday January 7th face off against the Dallas Stars and game time will be 7:00 PM eastern.
