It's no secret by now, as over the last few weeks Jacob Trouba and Chris Kreider have been surrounded by trade rumours after GM Chris Drury made them available.
But now an unexpected New York Rangers forward has emerged in trade talks.
According to Marco D'Amico of RG.com who quotes a «trusted NHL source» that Rangers star forward Mika Zibanejad is now on the market and has had some discussions with a Western Conference team.
The 31-year old center has been off to a tough start of the season, and fans have not been shy to let him know that.
Over seven consecutive season Zibanejad has managed to average 30 goals, but that may come to end as he has only scored five goals in 24 games this season.
To add to that, this is the first time in six years Mika Zibanejad has a plus/minus rating that is in the negatives with a -14.
Despite Zibanejad's recent performances It's hard to believe that he has landed in the trade market this early as he still had five years left on his contract with an $8.5 million annual cap hit.
Making it a very difficult move for any team to pull off at this time in the 2024-25 season, but if they truly want him they will make it work.
D'Amico's source also noted that Drury is looking for a significant change to really get the attention of his struggling team.
Hopefully the Rangers can start to turn things around as they're currently in 4th place in the Metropolitan Division at 14-10-1.
