The New York Islanders are behind the New York Rangers by one point on Sunday. That was thanks to the resourceful play of Reilly Smith, and Vinnie Troecheck.

Troecheck's epic 200th goal would come on the cusp of a Reilly Smith takeaway from rookie Samuel Bolduc.

He'd pass it to the slot, in front of the net where Troecheck would strike on Islanders goalie Ilya Sorokin and score his 200th career goal.

The goal would be Vinnie Troecheck's third goal of the year, with 9 points for the season( 3 G, 6 A) in 11 games.

Troecheck has been a staple in the Rangers lineup, as he centered Artemi Panarin, and Alexis Lafreniere last season.

After spending three seasons with the Carolina Hurricanes, the Rangers signed Trocheck to a seven-year, $39.375 million contract ahead of the 2022-23 season. He had a strong regular season, finishing with 22 goals and 42 assists while winning 56.1 percent of his faceoffs. However, he was held to one goal and no assists in seven playoff games as the New Jersey Devils eliminated the Blueshirts in the first round.

In 2023-2024 he scored 77 points( 25 G, 52 A) in 82 games with the Rangers and has begun his third year in New York on a tear as well.

Troecheck also contributed 20 points( 8 G, 12 A) in 16 games during the playoffs last season against the Washington Capitals, Carolina Hurricanes, and Florida Panthers.

Troecheck will be a key piece in the Ranger's future, especially if they're to win a Stanley Cup. The Rangers lead the Islanders 3-2 with 19:22 in the 3rd period.
