Canucks forward hits free agency: Do the New York Rangers make an offer?
Vancouver Canucks forward expected to test free agency this year, should the New York Rangers make an offer?
Sam Lafferty has bounced around a lot during his time in the NHL, with the Penguins, Blackhawks, Maple Leafs and most recently the Vancouver Canucks and is now expected to look for a new team.
The 29-year old forward, Lafferty has grown year after year and established himself as a bottom-six forward in the NHL. This past year he posted a career high of 13 goals and 11 assists for a total of 24 points, and is ready to test free agency.
NHL insider David Pagnotta reports the following:
Sam Lafferty is expected to hit the free agent market. The Canucks and Lafferty's camp have spoken recently, and he hasn't closed the door on Vancouver, but he seems interested in exploring his options at this moment.
Lafferty will now look towards the open market to see which teams will offer him the most, theoretically speaking the New York Rangers probably won't offer the top dollar but Lafferty could be a great cheap option for a bottom-six forward.
