Recently the Rangers have gotten rid of Jacob Trouba and Kaapo Kakko, and veteran Chris Kreider's name has been swirling in trade speculation. But now according to sources, another New York Rangers player is on the trade block and has been for a while.
According to Arthur Staple in The Athletic, he recently revealed that defensive forward Jimmy Vesey's name was put on the trade block at the same time Chris Drury made all his veterans available last month.
Vesey is known for being a depth forward who hasn't had the same impact this season for the Rangers as he has in the last few years as he has a total of 24 goals throughout 80 games in the 2022-23 and 2023-24 season.
Just this season Vesey has managed to tally 3 goals and 4 points while averaging 9:53 of ice time, and has been a healthy scratch on various occasions.
Staple also, states that the 31-year old trade isn't likely to be more than a fourth or fifth round pick. He's in the final season of a 2-year, $800,000 AAV deal and will be a UFA at season's end.
However, it's pretty clear that the New York Rangers need to continue to shake up their roster as their season continues to spiral out of control, with a 5-0 loss to the New Jersey Devils on Monday before the holidays marks their 13th defeat in the 17 games.
