NHL unveils significant changes coming to the league for the 2024-25 season
The National Hockey League has announced a significant increase to their salary cap for the 2024-25 regular season.
The League made a joint announcement on Saturday with the National Hockey League Players Association, regarding the details of what the salary cap will look like next season. This includes increase from the current cap of $83.5 million this current season up to a cap limit of$88 millionfor next season.
Many teams throughout the NHL will greatly benefit from this increase as it will give them wiggle room to re-sign or to bring new players during free agency.
The NHL also mentioned that the minimum on salary cap spending is set at $65 million for the next season. This is worth noting as this will do nothing to prevent teams from exceeding the cap through any methods like long-term injury reserve (LTIR).
