In one of his most passionate discussions, former Oilers forward and spitting chiclets podcast host Ryan Whitney gave an impassionate plea to the rest of the panel that the Oilers are ready to take the next step and win the Stanley Cup this year.
Whitney, played for the Oilers from 2009 through 2013 and during his time he was a fan favorite until he went to the Florida Panthers in 2014. As the years passed, his passion for the Oilers continues to show as he explained that he feels their five stars are prepared to take the team to the Stanley Cup finals.
The Oilers have turned their season completely around after the firing of head coach Jay Woodcroft and Dave Manson. Rookie head coach Kris Knoblauch along with Oilers legend Paul Coffey have taken this team to the next level and put them on the heels of the Canucks for first in the Pacific.
Whitney certainly has reason to believe that the Oilers have an easier path to the cup final as they will meet the winner of the Vancouver - Nashville series in which he feels the Oilers will stomp them.
The time is now for the Oilers to take a stand and go for the Cup as several of their top stars will be needing to re-sign over the next couple of years including superstar Connor McDavid and Leon Draisaitl.
