NHL Veteran retires from the National Hockey League after 19 seasons

Zach Parise has been in the NHL for 19 season. however this just may be his last season after the Colorado Avalanche just got elimination form the playoffs.

Last night the Dallas Starts came out victorious after a double overtime game winner scored by Matt Duchene, moving his team to the Western Conference finals. With the Avalanche's season at an end, Zach Parise's career also comes to an end.

When Parise signed with the Avalanche he made it clear that this would be his final chance to win in a Stanley Cup. After being in the NHL for 18 seasons he assumed the Colorado Avalanche were is best chance to make his dreams come true. Within playing 30 regular season games Praise only managed to score five goals and five assists.

However, moving into the playoffs, he only managed to contribute to two goals, and one assist.

Parise has said that he would retire after this season. He also had an emotional exchange with Peter DeBoer. Those two went to the 2012 Stanley Cup Final with New Jersey.

During last nights, handshake lineup former head coach, Peter DeBoer and Parise shared an emotional moment signalling the end of his career. After playing 1091 career games, scoring 488 goals and 405 assists, Parise will retire and be known as one of the best American-born players to play in the NHL.
