The New York Rangers came away with a win last night after Adam Edstrom scored the game-winning goal.
He'd be the Rangers 2nd goal-scorer on the night, after Vinnie Troecheck, Edstrom's goal would be scored only 5:57 into the 3rd period on Vegas goalie, Ilya Samsonov.
Instead of taking credit for the goal himself, he credited his teammates Matt Rempe for the great outlet pass to Jonny Brodzinski, while Edstrom crashed the net.
This gives Edstrom a total of 6 points ( 3 G, 3 A ) this season in 42 games played for the Rangers.
These are respectable numbers for a bottom-six forward, who has secured a full-time job in the NHL this year.
Not only do we get to see Edstrom's humility with this quote about his teammates, but it illustrates that Matt Rempe has found his way on the ice as well.
Could this be a new look for the fourth-line who was able to take down the best team in the Pacific Division?
While the team itself still has a way to go till we can say they're contenders again, this is a win that could instill needed confidence in the Rangers.
Edstrom was drafted 161st overall in the 6th round of the 2019 NHL Draft and has found a spot on the fourth line.
While the team likely never expected him to play like Artemi Panarin, his pivotal play showed he's just as important as the guy next to him.
Edstrom is in year three of three of a $846K contract and will expire as an RFA at the end of the season.
In order to keep his rights, the Rangers will have to give Edstrom a qualifying offer of $813K this offseason.
