Glen Sather's retirement from the New York Rangers after serving in an "advisory" role, may have unintended consequences.

The fallout has been disastrous according to Jess Rubenstein of The Prospectpark, which covers the topic of Rangers' draft picks and their journey, or lack thereof into the NHL.

There's been talk of how GM Chris Drury has been cleaning the house of the old consensus with Sather's exit.

Rubenstein's been unimpressed with the fallout.

Rubenstein: "The Rangers already have given away their 2nd, 3rd, 4th and 5th round picks. They get back a 5th round pick from Minnesota, and have their 6th and 7th. This is like the Neil Smith days when he kept giving away the youth. The Rangers still haven't realized that Drury is not as good a GM as they thought he was."

There's a point where the culmination of GM Chris Drury's moves will have to be examined, and so far it's not looking good.

Rubenstein would elaborate on his handling of Igor Shesterkin, and Artemi Panarin.

As for the ongoing fuss about the upcoming Igor Shesterkin contract, Jess puts it this way: "I don't like the idea of giving him an eight-year, $96 million pact. But if they don't, they will be spending the next five years missing the playoffs."

And, finally, The Breadman: "Just wait until Panarin is due for a new contract after next season!"
.

Honestly, she has a point with his style of money management and negotiations which has put him in a bind recently.

Gotta love Fischler's animated writing style, as its quirks offer a change from the status quo of rigid writing found in the sports world.

He'd ask a former Rangers goalie coach Benny Allaire how he views the Rangers post-Sather:

Postscript regarding the Rangers no-longer-full-time goalie coach, Benny Allaire: "All the best Allaire disciples are working for anyone but the Rangers!"

Will 2025 solidify GM Chris Drury as a terrible GM for the New York Rangers, or as a genius if he wins a Stanley Cup with the current core of players?

What do you think?

Is GM Chris Drury a terrible general manager?
