Jacob Trouba's name was swirling in trade rumors during the summer, as the New York Rangers wanted to clear cap space to sign Igor Shesterkin.

The trade-in question would have sent the Rangers Captain to the Detroit Red Wings, but with a 15-team No trade clause he opted to stay in New York.

There was much outrage due to the fact that Trouba reportedly shot it down, and despite the trade talks, his relationship with GM Chris Drury remained status quo.

But this time around, as the talks have intensified yet again, it appears whatever relationship there is between the GM and player is dissolving.

Sportsnet's Elliotte Friedman reported that the New York Rangers have made it very clear they are interested in making moves and shaking up their roster with Chris Kreider and Jacob Trouba's names being indicated as potential options in a move.

Trouba would confirm that he and GM Chris Drury haven't been on speaking terms after the news would arise again.

«It doesn't really matter. I'm happy to be here, focused on playing hockey,» Trouba said. «You can't really control that, I learned that throughout the summer. You kind of gotta block all of that out and focus on playing hockey with this group.»

The 30-year-old confirmed that he hasn't talked to Rangers general manager Chris Drury as of right now.

Trouba has responded solemnly and has felt that his best answer to GM Chris Drury doing his job, was doing his best work on the ice.

«No, I think it's just a part of the business,» Trouba said on if he needs to talk with Drury. «I don't know if it's real or not. My job is to play hockey and that's what I'm focused on.»

Trouba seems to have realized there's no way for him to stop the future, other than to exercise a contractual clause once more.

While he seems reserved in answering the media, there's no way of countering the fact that GM Chris Drury could kill two birds with one stone, by moving Trouba's contract against his will.

In the meantime, the Rangers will play against the Carolina Hurricanes tomorrow and will have to demonstrate they're still a force to deal with in the Metropolitan Division.

The defeat from the Blues yesterday must be weighing on the player's minds, giving the current talk on the wire.
