Laviolette Addresses Media On Chaotic Start And Spectacular Finish
Apparently, head coach Peter Laviolette didn't anticipate that the game would start the way it did.
"Our guys were reacting to what was happening on the ice. I thought they did a fantastic job, all 5 of them"
Peter Laviolette and Travis Green both cited emotions for why they were yelling at each other. Green went further saying he didn't know why Laviolette was angry at him and none of it would have happened had Matt Rempe fought MacDermid in the previous game between the teams.
"I look over and he's yelling, talking to me. I'm more than willing to go and talk to him. I have no idea why Peter was mad. It's not on me why he's upset. You're gonna start yelling, you're gonna get it back"
The Devils and Rangers combined for 162 penalty minutes in the first period.
It's the most combined first period PIMs in the NHL since January 18, 2014 between the Flames & Canucks.
The Rangers finished the season 4-0-0 against the Devils, marking its third undefeated regular season campaign against the Devils.
