Laviolette Confirms Starting Goaltender And Speak On Historic Significance For Tonight
Jonathan Quick will be starting at goal tonight for the Rangers against the Columbus Blue Jackets, per head coach Peter Laviolette.
Jonathan Quick has been sensational for the team this season. Boasting a 13-4-2 record, with a 2.36 goals allowed average and .917 save percentage.
The Rangers will be relying on Quick to make history tonight.
With a win tonight, the Rangers will break the streak for longest win streak in franchise history with 11 consecutive wins!
Peter Laviolette was asked if he's the type to acknowledge to the team the possibility of setting a franchise record tonight or treat it like a normal game:
"We haven't talked about that. We got to win a hockey game. We started talking about other things a long time ago It's not like we don't have goals, or set thoughts down and try to execute that plan. But I do think that, like anything, if you can do something well enough, long enough, you're bound to knock off some streaks or some players can have streaks, teams can have streaks penalty kills can have streaks. If you can just continue to do the right things that can happen. We find ourselves in that position tonight and that's pretty cool."
The only thing that matters is going out and getting a win to best position your team for success.
Although breaking a little history isn't something we would be opposed to seeing.
