Laviolette Declined To Answer Concern On Shesterkin
The Rangers are looking to win their seventh straight game tonight against the Minnesota Wild.
They will not enter the game at full strength however, with the loss of defenseman Adam Fox, center Filip Chytil, and Igor Shesterkin.
Barclay Goodrow is currently on paternity leave to be with his wife who is currently giving birth to their son.
Head coach Peter Laviolette has spoken to media and when asked if there was concern Igor Shesterkin would miss his next start, he had this to say.
"He was banged up just coming out of the game. We made the decision to recall Louis. This was always Quick's game to start, the fact that we have Domingue here we're going to play that and just give Shesty a break and some rest."
Shesterkin was banged up after Thursday's masterful performance against the Carolina Hurricanes, where he stopped 27 of 28 shots, for a save percentage of .964, allowing only one goal. Here was the play in question, when he got hurt:
He stayed like a champ and won us the game, 2-1.
Shesterkin wasn't schedule for tonight's game against Minnesota, Jonathan Quick was going to get the nod regardless of the condition of Shesterkin.
Goaltender Louis Domingue, has been called up from the Hartford Wolf Pack to back up Quick, just in case.
We will update more on Shesterkin's condition, when it becomes available.
