The New York Rangers will be injury depleted for some time, as they have lost defenseman Adam Fox, to a lower body injury and center Filip Chytil, to a head injury.

Fox is estimated to be out 3-4 weeks while Chytil will be out at least a week.

This mean players will need to step up big time to offset the losses. Kaapo Kakko is someone we hope, will step up big time.

The 22 year old had a chat earlier this week with the Rangers reporter from USATodaySports, Vince Z. Mercogliano, about earning the right, to stay on the top line.

It's a fantastic read, please check it out! The former No. 2 pick admits he is grateful for head coach, Peter Laviolette, giving him the opportunity to remain as the top line right winger, but he knows better than to take for granted.

"There's kind of two sides to it. We're winning games, so that's a good thing. Maybe that's the reason he keeps the lines. But you need to earn that also, so I need to be better."

So far, Kakko has produced one goal and two points total, on a line that has only produced two even-strength goals in 10 games.

They will need a lot more than that if they are to survive this stretch of time without two of their big players out of the line-up.

The Rangers will be suiting up tonight, against the Minnesota Wild, at the Xcel Energy Center, in Minnesota. The Rangers are aiming for their seventh straight win.

Milestone Alert! The Rangers are 10 wins away from becoming the fifth franchise in league history to achieve 3,000 wins!
