We have been filled with negative news all day today with injuries, and recalls after last night's 2-1 win over the Carolina Hurricanes.

Let's have some positive news for now!

The New York Rangers have had an excellent start to the season, and newly appointed head coach, Peter Laviolette, was a big reason for that, and he and his staff are getting acknowledged for the great work so far!

The NHL Coaches' Association is a professional organization that provides support and assistance to the head, associate, assistant, goalie, and video coaches of all 32 teams in the National Hockey League.

They have decided Laviolette and his coaching staff deserves the honor of coaching staff for the month of October!

It's hard to argue. They played seven of nine games on the road, going 6-1. They have swept a five game road stretch which is the first time the Rangers organization have accomplished this.

They are a juggernaut defensively, second in the league in goals allowed per game, and second in power-play conversion percentage. Oh did I mention they are currently in first place in the Metropolitan Division?

It's only the first month to the season, but so far, a great start! Now the next question will be, is he up for the Jack Adams Award?
