Laviolette Takes Responsibility For Player Not Reaching Full Potential
The Rangers won their eighth straight game against the Dallas Stars, their longest win streak since the 2015-16 season (9 GP).
They have points in 10 of their last 11 games (9-1-1) and earned its 20th home win tonight, the second most in the NHL.
A huge reason why?
Kaapo Kakko, who has tied his career-long point streak of five games.
Head coach Peter Laviolette credits Kaapo Kakko for his recent strong play and even takes a bit of responsibility for not playing him enough.
"He had another strong game. I gotta find a way to put him out there more. That's on me, because he's playing well right now. He looks confident."
Kaapo Kakko was one of the most noticeable players on the ice tonight but finished with a modest 12:21 time on ice.
His last nine games have been something special.
Overall, the Rangers are 26-6-2 when Kaapo Kakko plays this season, clearly he has a major impact on the team and should maybe get a look at playing more on the ice in the coming games.
