The New York Rangers organization has just announced an unexpected roster transaction, as they make a change to the bottom of their forward lines.

The New York Rangers organization has announced that that forward Brett Berard has been assigned to the Hartford Wolf Pack of the American Hockey League, and forward Benoit-Olivier Groulx has been recalled in the corresponding roster move.

UPDATE: Bo Groulx has been recalled from the Hartford Wolf Pack and Brett Berard has been assigned to the Hartford Wolf Pack.

However, according to Mollie Walker of the New York Post and several other insiders, this roster move will be short lived as Center Filip Chytil is a game-time decision for Saturday nights game against the Vegas Golden Knights leaving the Rangers without a extra center's if needed.

Word is Filip Chytil is TBD for tomorrow's #NYR game in Vegas.

The move is to have more options at center.

It's still unclear if Filip Chytil will play tomorrow, per a source. This move provides more center options. #NYR

If Chytil is unable to play for tomorrow nights game, Groulx is ill likely make his debut with the Rangers. As he has spent the first four years of professional career with the Anaheim Ducks before signing a one-year, $775K contract with the Rangers as an unrestricted free agent over the summer.

Groulx has managed to score 11 goals and 29 points in 32 games for the Wolf Pack this season, making him the second best on the team in scoring behind Alex Belzile.

As for Berard he might need to suit up for the Wolf Pack due to the fact they have a few upcoming home games this weekend.

But without a doubt he won't stay in the AHL for long as he's been a solid forward for the Rangers as he has managed to score 3 goals and seven assists in just 19 games while averaging 11:20 of ice time.
