Matt Rempe and the New York Rangers seemed to be a match made in heaven upon his return. He started contributing offensively, and then we're back to square one.

What did Matt Rempe do now? Peter Laviolette didn't utilize Rempe during the last 27:36 minutes of the game against the Utah Hockey Club.

Given that he didn't end up getting suspended, is a revelation as he may have finally learned his lesson.

Despite that, he was still benched at the end of the game against the "Hockey Club".

In 10 games this season, he's only pitched in an assist on the bottom six, and considering he's only been known as an enforcer in the, it's a baby step towards progress.

But, considering Rempe has sold himself as an "improved" forward, and not just a goon the standards were raised.

Is that possibly why he was benched? Lack of production?

If you recall, it wasn't too long ago that Rempe impressed Laviolette with his play.

"I think he looks good," Laviolette said. "I think some nights he is more noticeable based on the hits and the forecheck and what he can bring to the table, but I do think when he is on the ice it creates a buzz, it creates a noise out there He is doing what we are asking him to do."

"We talk to him about it all the time," Laviolette said about conversations with Rempe. "We've talked to him about where he can and can't. In his mind, he is tracking something and things change along the way. He has to process that and then make the right decisions as he is closing in on a hit. I think he is learning. He's got to work from that and learn from that."

What did Rempe do to earn a spot in the doghouse once again?

Edstrom, Carrick and Rempe posted a 59.9 expected goal share against the Avalanche, per Natural Stat Trick. Laviolette was still sending them out for shifts midway through the third period with the Rangers leading, albeit in short bursts.

At this point, it's puzzling. Is it a recency bias for Laviolette, as all the stat nerds seem to love the Rangers' fourth line, which is currently buzzing at the moment?
