For the first time in the 2024 Stanley Cup Playoffs, and since April 11th, the Rangers lost a game. They lost Game 4 in the Second Round to the Carolina Hurricanes 4-3 in PNC Arena, failing to complete their second consecutive series sweep.

Their 7-game playoff-opening winning streak matched the 1994 Rangers, who also lost Game 4 of their second-round series to the Washington Capitals. Considering how poorly the Rangers played to start the game, it was a valiant effort by the team to come back down 3-1 and have a tie game with 3:11 left in the third period. The best player for the Rangers tonight was no doubt Alexis Lafrenière. Head coach Peter Laviolette gives praise to the former No. 1 pick:

"I thought he could've had 3 or 4 goals... I don't think he was rewarded maybe the way he should've been offensively for the amount of looks and positions he put himself into."

The Rangers will have another chance to close the Hurricanes out and finish this series on Monday at Madison Square Garden.
