Rangers defenseman Ryan Lindgren issues a major announcement regarding his ongoing injury
The New York Rangers Ryan Lindgren, will look a bit different next time you see him on the ice.
The "warrior" defenseman of the Rangers is known for his bruising playstyle, with a little bit of offensive upside to add to his play style.
"I still think that he's dealing with that cage on his face and he's working his way back It's hard to isolate anybody and talk about them when that's a big bus that we all can get on and just say, It's not good enough,'" Peter Laviolette said.
Of course, no one is infallible or unbreakable, as Lindgren has been wearing a bubble during his return to play, much to his chagrin.
But it's a necessarily evil, after having surgery, and letting recovery play out, and Lindgren has finally been able to update us on his recovery.
It was only by November 8th that Lindgren finally seemed comfortable wearing it:
«I ended up getting surgery on it,» Lindgren said. «I've been skating for a while now, skating with the bubble obviously. Just kind of getting used to that. It feels good now.»
But now, he can go back to rocking a visor on the ice and being the punishing defenseman, to Adam Fox's run-and-gun style of play.
Lindgren has played only 10 games this season and posted 1 goal during that time frame.
With hope, this means that Lindgren feels comfortable enough to play up to expectations, especially if the Rangers are to make the postseason.
Lindgren signed a one-year "prove-it" deal with GM Chris Drury and the Rangers, for a $4.25 Million AAV cap hit.
If he can't prove he's worth investing in long-term, he may be one of the players the team will have to re-evaluate their relationship during the offseason.
Hopefully, it won't come to that though.
