General manager Barry Trotz has made it known that if the team were to fall out of playoff contention, that numerous players would be available for trade including one centre that the Rangers have their eyes on.
Tommy Novak was drafted by the predators in 2015, in the third round, 85th overall.
The 26-year-old centre is the type of player that would help the Rangers greatly as according to Phil Kocher of the Blue shirts breakaway has a physical style and grit that Rangers need on their bottom 6.
General manager Chris Drury has been scouring the league for help for his third line and the prices seem to be quite high on the players that are known to be available.
Over the past 49 games, Novak has scored twelve goals with 20 assists for 32 points.
With that kind of output and a cap hit of a measly 800k on a one-year deal would certainly bode well for the Rangers financially as a low-cost option with potential to be signed in the offseason.
The trade deadline will end on March 8th at 3:00 PM eastern.
