The Rangers' newest defenseman Urho Vaakanainen will make his debut with the Blueshirts tonight. The team will face off against the terrible, Nashville Predators.

Urho Vaakanainen was acquired from the Anaheim Ducks by the New York Rangers. The deal sent former Captain Jacob Trouba to the West Coast, as the Rangers received the former 1st round pick, and fourth-round pick in the 2025 NHL Draft in return.

He had been placed on injured reserve before he arrived in New York and we were unsure of when he'd make his debut.

Now he'll get his shot against Steven Stamkos, Ryan O'Reilly, and Juuse Saros. Last season, this may have sounded more intimidating, yet this year if the Rangers play a solid game the Predators should be pushovers.

Vaakanainen will take his place paired with Chad Ruhwedel tonight, on the Rangers' 3rd-line.

The team is missing K'Andre Miller, who is out on injured reserve, so the lineup has been adjusted accordingly.

It's still unclear when New York Rangers defenseman Urho Vaakanainen will return from an upper-body injury. The Rangers acquired Vaakanainen last week along with a 2025 fourth-round pick in exchange for Jacob Trouba. However, he came to New York on injured reserve..

Last year Vaakanainen played 68 games for the Ducks, and posted 14 points( 1 G, 13 A).

He's only played five games and notched an assist with the Ducks this year. Tonight against the Predators, Peter Laviolette will get a better look at the defenseman and get an idea of what he can do.

He'll be on the bottom pairing with veteran Chad Ruhwedel.
