Rangers Offense Has Risen Another Level
The Rangers remain the best team in the league, record wise.
A big reason has been the defense, though lately, the Rangers have been a bit shaky defensively.
What has elevated however is their offense, especially their even strength production.
In the 6-5 win over the San Jose Sharks last night, the Rangers scored five 5v5 goals for the first time this season.
They averaged 1.3 5v5 goals in the first 10 games of the season. The last 13, they averaged 2.7 5v5 goals per game.
That is a massive improvement, especially since early on, the Rangers were a little over reliant on power play goals.
This is more of a testament to the overall offensive play of the team, seven different Rangers (Fox, Gustafsson, Kreider, Lafrenière, Panarin, Trocheck, Zibanejad) have 15-plus points this season, tied for the second most players in the NHL.
The Dallas Stars lead the league with eight.
It looks like the offense is really coming together for the team, amidst all the injuries.
With plenty of time left before the playoffs, this should become an extremely strong aspect of their team identity moving forward.
