According to the Fourth Period, the Buffalo Sabres are starting to browse the trade market for talent to help bolster their roster, as they look to put an end to their 13-year playoff drought.
It is completely understandable that the Sabres are still interested in the 23-year old forward, as he still has plenty of time to reach his full potential and improve his game, and maybe a change of scenery is exactly what he needs.
However, Kakko has been struggling, during the 2023-24 season he only managed 13 goals, six assists, and a plus-6 rating in 61 regular-season games. He then followed that up with just one goal, one assist, and a minus-4 rating in 15 playoff games.
If the Rangers and Sabres were to make a trade for Kakko, he would be a great fit for their middle six, and provide them with another option for their power-play.
