One of them is Barclay Goodrow.
Goodrow is 31 years old. The Ontario native came into the league undrafted and started his career with the San Jose Sharks in 2014. Barclay didn't perform well in the regular season, and with him making 3.6 million dollars, fans were upset with his production. Goodrow only had 12 points in 80 games.
But, in the playoffs, he had eight points with six goals in 16 games, completely turning around his regular season play. Those goals included multiple short-handed goals, as well as an overtime winner against the Florida Panthers in Game 2 of the Eastern Conference Finals.
The Rangers could try to trade him and get a little bit back for him, as well as freeing up that nearly $4 million in cap space they desperately need.
Last but not least, Kaapo Kakko.
Kaapo Kakko and the Rangers haven't had the best of relationships since he was selected second overall in the 2019 draft. Kakko's been in, out, and all over the lineup ever since he cracked the NHL roster. Kaapo had 19 points in 61 games this regular season, and in the playoffs, only recorded two points in 15 games.
It's just not working out, so New York might be better off trading him away. He's an RFA, so it wouldn't do any good having him hit the free agent market anyways. Drury could possibly find a rebuilding team to trade him to, as he's only 23 years old.
