Over the past several years, NHL cities in Canada have been the bread and butter of the league as many have felt they are the main generator for revenue.

At one point or another this was the truth as all Canadian franchises combined were almost 50% of NHL revenue.

Fast forward to today and much has changed with inflation, recovering from the COVID pandemic and other factors have seen the Winnipeg Jets attendance and season tickets dropped dramatically.

Commissioner Gary Bettman has decided to take a trip to Winnipeg to discuss the issues at hand with the season ticket numbers dropping.

He will be meeting with corporate sponsors and discussing ways to help boost the numbers is rather interesting considering they're okay with the Arizona Coyotes playing in a university hockey rink with less than 5000 seats.

The Jets are enjoying their season as the team has a current record of 35-15-5 for 75 points and holding the third seed in the Central division.

With the appetite for expansion to 34 teams and allowing the coyotes to remain in Arizona as the ongoing 20-year debacle continues, I feel that Winnipeg should get a pass now and allow them to get a chance to rebuild their numbers especially since many teams are not doing so well financially.

In the coming days, I will have to hear what he has to say to the fan base and the city
