It's been a rough several weeks for head coach John Tortorella and his Flyers as his team has spiralled downward and is now sitting on the outside looking into the playoffs.

During an recent interview, torts was asked about the 2010 Rangers having to win to get into the playoffs compared to his Flyers of today.

This year's edition of the Flyers have had a rollercoaster of a year as many had pegged them to be a top five lottery team prior to the season beginning.

After a few months, it became clear the Flyers were better than what was advertised, and the team sat in 3rd place in the metro division for the bulk of the year.

It was up until recently when the team has been on a terrible tailspin as the Flyers have lost eight in a row and are on the brink of being eliminated from the playoffs.

The team sits with 83 points and even though they're only a few points away from being back in the second wildcard spot, several Rangers opponents including the Pittsburgh Penguins,

Washington Capitals and the New York Islanders are trying to solidify their spots which makes it more difficult for the Flyers to gain in the standings.

It remains to be seen whether the Flyers can get the job done and will likely be the Rangers first opponent if they manage to do it.

As people say anything can happen in the playoffs, but the Rangers are certainly better on paper and on the ice if they were to meet the Flyers in the first round.
