It's been an incredible run so far for Leafs superstar Auston Matthews as he has been an absolute machine when it comes to scoring goals.
Even though the team has been inconsistent throughout the entire season, Auston Matthews has been completely consistent with his goal scoring and playmaking.
Earlier tonight, the Leafs played the dreadful Anaheim Ducks when Auston Matthews joined the ranks of Wayne Gretzky having scored back-to-back hat tricks for the second time in one year.
He's the first player to do this in almost 40 years and he's showing no signs of slowing down.
The Maple Leafs drubbed the Ducks winning the game 9-2 and Matthews had a career night of five points in one game.
With the ink dry on his new contract extension and no contract pressure on his shoulders, it's clear that he is doing what he loves best which is playing hockey and getting as many goals as possible.
At the rate he's scoring it's almost a certainty that he will be teetering the 70 goal mark this season.
Through 52 games, he has scored 48 goals with 23 assists for 71 points and is a +20.
