For the last 30 years, NHL commissioner Gary Bettman has been tasked to grow the game in the United States in any way possible.
The league has certainly had its share of interesting ideas on how to do this and one idea the NHL stadium series has been a resounding success.
This year's series was held at MetLife Stadium the home of NFL New York Jets and Giants.
With large flocks of Rangers and Islanders fans filling the seats, the early reviews are in with the NHL management are smiling from ear to ear.
With the rich hockey culture in the New York City area and fans enjoying the festivities, NHL reporters including Vince Mercogliano of USA TODAY asked Rangers superstar Artemi Panarin how he felt about playing in front of almost 80,000 people.
It's safe to say that the stadium series will not be disappearing anytime soon as it's one of the NHL's most successful venues during its season.
It's worth noting that the New York Rangers won the game 6-5 in overtime which added another layer of bragging rights for the Rangers squad.
