Rangers divisional rivals superstar out 6-8 weeks due to injury
The New York Rangers and New Jersey Devils rivalry was established on October 6, 1982, and it hasn't relented since.
The New York Rangers rivals, the Devils, will have a key piece out of the lineup at the beginning of the NHL season.
Luke Hughes, will miss 6-8 weeks at the start of the season due to a shoulder injury. The 21-year-old injured himself during training in the off-season.
According to the Devils organization, he will not need surgery.
Hughes led the Devils' defense in points, with 47( 9 G, 38 A), and was a finalist for the Calder Trophy as well.
While we hope for Hughes's recovery, the Devils missing a huge piece of the lineup should bode well for the Rangers' regular season match-ups.
They may have to rely upon a call-up or 7th defenseman in order to shore up pairings.
The 21-year-old was drafted in 2021 4th overall and has played 84 NHL games, including two assists in three Stanley Cup Playoff games.
