He has been sent to the AHL in order to hone his skills and his game, Peter Laviolette made note that he'll be able to play more minutes in the AHL than riding pine in the bigs.
However, while he has been banished to the AHL, it could be argued that Head Coach Laviolette may have never given Rempe a fair shake.
Rempe has experienced limited usage in the NHL, and during his two games played he'd see 3:40 TOI, and 7:37 TOI, with a total of 18 shifts split between the two games.
Basically, he never got a chance to show what he was made of during his short time in the NHL this season.
It seems that Laviolette never had faith in the forwards abilities, and was given a shorter leash than he had the prior season.
This could be a great example of how biased Laviolette is against Rempe. While Adam Edstrom and Jonny Brodzinski haven't exactly been a revelation on the fourth line either. Not everyone can be Jimmy Vesey, can they?
,q>Here's why I'm convinced that we've seen the last of Rempe:
1. I believe that the coach doesn't like Rempe, the player, period. But does seem to love Brozinski, the player.
2. I'm convinced that Laviolette resented all the attention both the media and fans heaped on Rempe. As it happened, Matt became an overnight hero faster than the Beatles.
3. I believe that Matt did himself a disservice by inviting all the off-season publicity; starting with boxing lessons, power skating workouts and hanging out with the likes of Chris Kreider who became Rempe's "mentor."
The evidence is mounting by Fischler on multiple accounts, and honestly some of it is coherent analysis, despite the rest of the writing being not so sublime by our standards.
Would you believe that Peter Laviolette is going Mike Babcock on Matt Rempe?
