Rangers reporter Jonny Lazarus tweeted that he feels that Kakko would be a perfect fit for the Wild. These rumors have been growing over the past several weeks and spilled over yesterday when head coach Peter Laviolette made Kakko a healthy scratch.
This is the latest in an ongoing saga that the team is currently under which has seen players only meetings, their captain being traded to the Anaheim Ducks and now this healthy scratch.
Many put the blame on general manager Chris Drury who has made it clear that he is willing to trade whoever he needs to make the team better even if it means poisoning the dressing room.
The Rangers look like a shadow of themselves considering they were the best team in the NHL last year with relatively the same lineup. The only major change they made over the summer was the odd move of placing Barclay Goodrow on waivers to get around his modified no trade clause.
No matter what the Rangers are doing especially on the ice, it's clear the team cannot shake this problem and Laviolette has made several other changes including dropping the ice time significantly for Rangers star Mika Zibanejad to below 13 mins a game.
The Rangers looked like a team that has lost it's trust with management, and themselves. In my view, the only way to stop the bleeding is for general manager Drury to keep his lists tight and not reveal who he wants to trade because it's had a profound effect on his team which is now sitting on the outside of the playoffs.
No one in the NHL saw that coming considering how the Rangers played last year.
