Fans left furious after a controversial goalie interference penalty was made during game 5 of the Eastern Conference Finals between the Rangers and Panthers.

The New York Rangers faced off against the Florida Panthers last night for game 5 of the ECF, throughout the entire series both teams have been playing aggressive and multiple dirty plays have been going unnoticed by the referees.

However, during the second period Panthers defenseman Niko Mikkola runs straight into Rangers goalie Igor Shesterkin, and of course after that everyone got heated and an intense scrum broke out.

Niko Mikkola runs into Igor Shesterkin and the Rangers take exception 🫣

What makes the situation frustrating is that the Rangers were already on the power play during this moment, and after the officials got things settled they refused to give the Rangers a 5-3 advantage, as they handed out penalties to both teams.

Clearly the Rangers and their fans are annoyed as this could've been the opportunity for them to completely take control of the game but unfortunately that wasn't the case.

The Rangers ended up losing 3-2 after the Panthers scored an empty net goal, and now they look to force game 7 as they have to return to Amerant Back Arena for game 6 on Saturday June 1st at 8:00pm.
