As all hockey fans know, the NHL regular season is a long slog where teams can go through highs and lows as injuries, player changes or lack of concentration can creep into any team.

Since the holiday break, the Rangers have been one of these teams and the evidence is clear that the team needs a shake up sooner rather than later.
With so many metrics falling especially towards the bottom third of the league in metrics like rush scoring chances and scoring chances for head coach Peter Laviolette has been scratching his head and looking for answers on how to break this cycle.
During a recent media scrum, he gave a grim picture of how the team is having a hard time making those changes and trying to get back into the win column on a more consistent basis.
It's widely expected that general manager Chris Drury along with his staff are currently scouring the NHL looking for potential deals as the NHL trade deadline approaches in March.
It seems the current needs of the team are in the bottom 6 along with their third line centre who could help become a catalyst for secondary goal scoring which has been starving the team for some time.
It also appears the team has abandoned their defensive principles which has not bode well for starting goaltender Igor Sheshterkin who is on pace for one of the worst statistical years of his career.
Fortunately for the Rangers, they were able to pile numerous points at the beginning of this season which has given them the cushion to help absorb this current funk they are in.
It will give them time to continue to evaluate and hopefully make the changes necessary to get back their season.
