Matt Rempe issues an unexpected statement after being recalled to the New York Rangers
The New York Rangers recently made a tough decision and sent one other fan favourites to the AHL.
It was announced earlier last week that the New York Rangers were reassigning their fan favourite enforcer Matt Rempe to the Hartford Wolf Pack in the American hockey league.
Many believed this was the best decision for the youngster as he has no points this season and has only received 5 minutes and 39 seconds of average ice time.
Despite all that, the 22-year old enforcer had a disastrous two games in the American Hockey League, as the enforcer looked looked to gain more ice time, he was recalled back to the National Hockey League to rejoin the New York Rangers.
However, this morning Matt Rempe joined the New York Rangers at their morning practice and spoke to the media about how he was feeling about this situation:
Was he receptive to the assignment?
"Yeah, for sure," No. 73 said. "Got to go play 17/18/19 minutes the last two games, played center, played all situations. It was good for me... Hadn't played a lot of minutes in a long while so it was good for me to get all those game situations, feel the puck, play not just the physical side and play in a top-six role."
He then continued with how he stayed mentally prepared for his next call up:
"I'm so young still. I want to go play games. I want to grow my game. I got to get a lot better in all areas. I think that's great for me to go play. That was the first time I played PK and power play in a pro hockey game ever... So that was great."
Truly a great attitude on the kid despite the type of week he has had.
