NHL Player Safety hands out major punishment for play that occurred during Rangers Vs Devils game
New Jersey Devils defenseman receives supplementary disciplinary action from the NHL for an embellishment call that took place when the Devils faced the New York Rangers on December 23rd.
The League has just announced that New Jersey Devils defenseman
Dougie Hamilton was fined $2,000 in supplementary discipline for diving/embellishment by the NHL.
NHL announces #NJDevils� D Dougie Hamilton has been fined $2,000 as supplementary discipline under NHL Rule 64 (Diving/Embellishment).
It was confirmed that Hamilton was warned after an incident occurred during the Devils game against the Edmonton Oilers back in November 4th, and was flagged by the NHL hockey operations.
However, his second citation was against the New York Rangers and ultimately earned himself a fine of $2,000 for an incident that occurred at 9:12 of the second period on December 23, right before the holiday break.

The NHL's hockey operations department monitors all games and flags any incidents of diving or embellishment deserving of further discipline under Rule 64.
NHL Rule 64 is designed to bring attention to and more seriously penalize players (and teams) who repeatedly dive and embellish in an attempt to draw penalties.
