The New York Rangers finalized a trade yesterday which sent Jacob Trouba to the Anaheim Ducks, for a 2025 Fourth Round pick, and defenseman Urho Vaakanainen.

Now, the Rangers are in a predicament, with Trouba being removed from the lineup they have no Captain to lead the squad.

Who will GM Chris Drury name Captain, as the spot has opened up?

According to one NHL Insider, it's one future RFA and defenseman who has been linemates with both Adam Fox and Jacob Trouba.

"Not Fox," blurted Ruby, "he's going to be named captain."

That was my suggestion a few years ago when Foxy was playing like a Norris Trophy-winner, not like the schlub he's looked like lately.

"It will be K'Andre Miller who goes," Jess went on, "but only if they can get a decent return for him. Then again, it's doubtful that they will since his being a RFA as well as a liability on defense."

Fischler brought up the topic to Jess Rubenstein who has an insight into the New York Rangers operation. Albeit she comes from an angle don't often consider.

Like others in the crowd, Rubenstein sees some positives in Miller and suggests that coach Peter Laviolette has limited K'Andre's offense. "Move him up to forward," he said.

While Fischler thought it would be "warrior" Ryan Lindgren who would be named Captain it appears it might fall to K'Andre Miller according to Rubenstein.

It seems far-fetched now, as Miller has yet to be re-signed by GM Chris Drury, and hasn't had an impact on the Rangers season like we thought he should.

Miller has struggled to replicate his 2022-2023 season, where he scored 43 points( 9 G, 34 A), 105 blocks, and 162 hits.

This season he's failed to grab the brass rings, and scored 4 points( 1 G, 3 A) and could attaining the "C" help him improve his game, and motivate him?

It's difficult to tell, given how unpredictable this Rangers team is this season. As they're 4th in the Metropolitan Division, with a 14-10-1 record.

Last night showed the Rangers have an ability to defeat opponents easily, as they put up 4 points last night against the Penguins.

Miller may have just been an player whose operating on intangibles last night, as he produced donuts last night.

Along with that, head coach Peter Laviolette addressed the situation this morning after the teams practice, here's what he had to say:

Laviolette said there are no plans to name a replacement captain at this time.

«Not right now. We've got a leadership group that we've been dealing with the whole time. Right now, we're moving forward with that.»

It's interesting speculation, but I'll believe it when I see it.
