In return for Trouba, the Ducks have sent Vaakanainen and a 2025 fourth-round pick in return for the Captain.
With his tenure ended in the Rangers organization, GM Chris Drury was able to clear $8 Million in cap space, with this trade.
GM Chris Drury offered a heartfelt message to the media, as Trouba begins his career with the Anaheim Ducks after today.
Prior to the move Larry Brooks of the New York Post reported that Trouba would have his choice of where he could go or go on waivers.
While this is the logical end to the Trouba situation, it seems GM Chris Drury wasn't able to wait until the end of the season to move the Captain.
The team is currently 13-10-1 and 4th in the Metropolitan Division.
Trouba was incapable of playing to his contract and this led to the end of his time in the Rangers organization.
In doing so the Rangers have had to call up Victor Mancini, in place of Trouba who will no longer suit up as a Blueshirt ever again.
Trouba played 24 games this season and scored 6 points( 6 A) with a -3 and will bolster the Anaheim Ducks blueline.
While GM Chris Drury's letter was the epitome of professional, this is another precedent set where players are forced sometimes against their will to act in their own interests.
Will Marty Walsh ever step in to address these kind of situation?
Regardless, what's done is done.
