Shesterkin gets nod from his teammates

It was clear after the win against the Chicago Blackhawks that the Rangers did not feel that great even though they were able to cobble two points together in an out of conference game.

The team did not even celebrate after beating the Blackhawks as they had a lead and lost it.
Some may feel that the lead was lost due to Rangers goalie Igor Shesterkin not playing his best as he has continued to struggle through number of weeks this season.
Many pundits across the New York area have weighed in their thoughts on Igor Shesterkin and where he fits as the goalie of this team, Jonny Lazarus of the Blue Crew Podcast spoke with New York post sports and gave his view on where the netminder stands.
It would be an easy fix just to give the reigns to Jonathan Quick as he has been the better goaltender over the past several months.
But I do agree with Lazarus that Igor Shesterkin is the number one goalie for this team as he will be with the Rangers for the next number of years.
He also has enough upside to warrant that decision and gives general manager Chris Drury more runway to find players to help the team defend better which will improve his numbers greatly.
Having Quick in the background is a great insurance policy for the Rangers as they continue to build points and nail down their playoff spot.
The Rangers will be at home and face off against the Calgary Flames.
The game will be held on Monday February 12 and game time will be at 7:00 PM eastern.
