Rangers Igor Shesterkin joins elite goalies with this impressive stat
The Stanley Cup playoffs have begun, and the Rangers are off to a great start as they had defeated the Washington Capitals in game one 4-1. Rangers goaltender Igor Shesterkin gave a brilliant performance which put him in line with many great goalies for allowing two goals or fewer in 10 consecutive starts in the playoffs.
Shesterkin, had a lighter workload in this game as he faced 22 shots and only allowed one goal for a .952 save percentage. Igor's year had been a rollercoaster as the former Vezina trophy winner had an up and down season and even serious questions were raised on whether he could be the number one goalie for this team in the month of December and January.
Having a great All-Star weekend, Shesterkin found his game again and helped the Rangers go on an incredible run down the stretch which secured them the president's trophy and home ice advantage through the entire playoffs.
Being in company with goalies like Martin Brodeur, Ed Belfour, Mike Vernon and Dominik Hasek certainly tells the testament of his capabilities and the potential of guiding this team to their next Stanley Cup.
The Rangers next game will be on Tuesday April 23rd and game time will be at 7:00 PM eastern at Madison Square Garden.
